Aim: What is a History Lab?

Bell Ringer: Journal 9 – Write a journal entry from the perspective of a Union soldier or a Confederate soldier.

Objectives:
1. Students will describe the importance of historiography, which includes how historical knowledge is obtained and transmitted, when interpreting events in history.
2. Students will utilize a variety of primary and secondary sources to identify author, historical significance, audience, and authenticity to understand a historical period.
3. Students will analyze how images, symbols, objects, cartoons, graphs, charts, maps, and artwork may be used to interpret the significance of time periods and events from the past.

Grade and review Secession Handout (10 min)
Introduce the History Lab (10 min)
History Lab 1 (rest of period)
