7th Grade: Journals 21-30



Journal 21 – Who settled Roanoke Island and what happened there?

Journal 22 - Describe the difficult and prosperous times of Jamestown. 

Journal 23 – Who were the Puritans? Who were the Pilgrims? Use handout “The First English Colonies”

Journal 24 – What will happen in a colony without a government?

Journal 25 – Describe the history of New York using the following words: New Amsterdam, New Netherland, New York, King Charles II, England, proprietary colony, 1664. 

Journal 26 – List and describe in your own words the various types of governments learned in class today. Use handout “What’s In a Word?”

Journal 27 - How did World History events influence the creation of the United States? Use Preface: Our Mixed Up Civilization. 
Journal 28: How is the relationship between Church and State today different than how it was in Colonial times? Use the questionnaire as a guide. 
Journal 29 – How did Quakers and people like Mary Dyer and Anne Hutchinson create trouble in the Colonies? Do you think they were doing the right or wrong thing? 
Journal 30 – Explain how Freedom of the Press benefits society today? 


8th Grade Journals 21-30

Journal 21 - Describe the three Civil War Amendments.

Journal 22 – What were Lincoln’s conditions for letting the South be part of the United States? Use V6.27

Journal 23 - What would you do as president to help rebuild the South?

Journal 24 – In a Venn Diagram compare and contrast Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. DuBois. Use your packet.

Journal 25 – In “The Constitution Works” find two evidences of positive change and two evidences of negative change for African Americans during Reconstruction.

Journal 26 – Describe the people who live in your neighborhood. Include their socioeconomic status, race, and religion.

Journal 27 - Packet “Trail of Tears” by Diane Wilde. Answer questions on Journal 27.

Journal 28 - Describe America’s westward expansion. Begin with “In 1776” and end with the Spanish American War. (2 paragraphs)
