7th Grade - Journals 41-50

Journal 41 – Use the following terms to explain why the Colonists became angry with the British: WRITS OF ASSISTANCE, SUGAR ACT, PROCLAMATION OF 1763, STAMP ACT, TOWNSHEND ACTS, TEA ACT, QUARTERING ACTS.

Journal 42 – Describe an event that showed anger on behalf of the colonists towards the British.

Journal 43 – What would you have done differently had you been King George III during the rebellion of the Colonies?

Journal 44 – Describe one strength and one weakness of the Articles of Confederation.

Journal 45 – What would you do, as king or queen of England, to regain all of the money spent in protecting your American Colonies in the French & Indian War. Be specific.

Journal 46 -
1. According to the details of the engraving, what advantages do the soldiers have that the colonists do not? What point does the artist make through this contrast?

2.    What do you think is the intended message behind the artist’s use of smoke spreading out from the soldiers’ rifles?

Journal 47 – Explain how freedom for the people has expanded over time. Use the “Ladder of Rights”.

Journal 48 – What are the most important things to attend to when creating a government?

Journal 49 – Compare and contrast “Federation” and “Confederation”. You may use a Venn Diagram or explain in writing.

Journal 50 – Who was Abigail Adams? She fought for equality for a group of people. What group was this?
