Aim: How were Native Americans affected by Westward Expansion?

Bell Ringer: Review the concept map “Settlement of the West” and highlight the terms that we have not covered in class.

Objectives:

1. Students will analyze the economic challenges to American farmers and farmers' responses to these challenges in the mid to late 1800s.

Agenda:

1. Bell Ringer (5 min)
2. Review EOC Review Guide pages 7-8
3. Check progress of History Lab 3
4. Answer all three EQs by creating a concept map. (Attachment E)

5. Create and share a Concept Map presentation on one of the following topics: Transcontinental railroad; Sioux Indians; Sitting Bull; Battle of Little Bighorn; Boomtowns; Lives of Farmers on the Great Plains; Dawes Act; Populist Party; William Jennings Bryan; the Grange Movement. Instructions and a rubric are enclosed (Attachment E).
